| My agenda was to make fun of the genre, but the producers wanted me to take the movie a bit more seriously. What we ended up with was a mid-tone movie, but I consider it a success.” And he makes another important point about his approach, which he says sets him apart from other directors who make the leap from music video to features. “Other directors leave their music video past way behind and become 'serious' filmmakers,” he says, “But the thing is, I don't see any difference between the way I make music videos and the way I make movies.
